The world imports, processes, brands, and sells it back as a luxury at $2–$5 per kilogram – a markup of 3,000% to 8,000%. Over 90% of the final retail value is captured elsewhere. This isn't trade. It is a wealth transfer. The true cost is darker. This model squeezes the people at its origin, compromised safety, environmental neglect, wages that trap generations. The resource is priceless; the human effort to extract it has been rendered cheap. My "why" is to rewrite this equation. Not through activism alone, but through a new commercial architecture.
